Full-time Faculty Position Opening
1. Candidates who have obtained a Doctor of Philosophy in Political Science, specializing in Political Thoughts or Comparative Politics.
2. Applicants should have experience in teaching at secondary school or university level, preferably with Medium of Instruction (EMI) teaching experience at the university level.
3. In accordance with National Taiwan Normal University Faculty Evaluation Regulations, with the exception of beginning teachers* with a Ph.D. degree, newly appointed full-time faculty must meet at least one of the following qualifications:
a) Serve as the first or corresponding author of at least two journal publications within the most recent three years listed in SCI, SSCI, TSSCI, EI, A&HCI, THCI (originally THCI Core) or academic journal articles in SCOPUS.
b) Serve as the Principal Investigator for at least two research projects sponsored by the National Science and Technology Council within the most recent three years**.
c) Published at least one book or monograph within the past three years; reviewer comments and proof of publication should be provided.
*“Beginning teachers” refers to those who have graduated within the last two years (beginning from the posting date of this vacancy announcement, excluding time in military service due to conscription) and have not held any full-time teaching position at an institution of higher education since graduation.
** The above-mentioned articles and research projects can mutually offset.
4. Newly appointed faculty must be able to comply with the requirement of English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI) teaching.
1. In accordance with National Taiwan Normal University Faculty Evaluation Regulations, the recruitment process begins with initial interviews for appointment by the department followed by selection of one outstanding eligible candidate. Subsequently, the department will then submit an application for a faculty position to the university (for either a full-time or contract faculty position). Only upon university approval of the vacancy, the candidate will undergo a three-level review by the university's Faculty Evaluation Committee. The appointment is then confirmed upon final approval by the university president. Estimated appointed date is February 1, 2026.
2. According to the university’s Faculty Evaluation Regulations, newly appointed faculty already in possession of the assistant professor certificate (or above) accredited by the Ministry of Education must still undergo a review process for the appointment to be made in accordance with the level of certificate. To complete the review process, newly appointed faculty should submit specialized publications (or evidence of works, exhibitions, achievements, technical reports, etc.) published within the most recent three years to be reviewed by three external scholars or experts appointed by the College of Education. At least two of the reviewers must assess the set of submissions at a grade of B or higher for approval of the review.
